Despite its age the stone plaque was in fairly good condition in 2024.
Memorial Notes:
It is unlikely that Charles I would have been able to see his forces defeated at Rowton Moor from this tower the area of the battle can not be seen due to distance and topography. He may well have stood on the tower however and observed the remnants of his forces arriving before the city walls to seak shelter from the pursuing Parliamentarian forces.
