In addition to responding to these threats, the Battlefields Trust has also requested that Winchester Council ensure further archaeological investigation is conducted on a proposed housing development site to the east of Alresford across which the royalists retiring from the battle of Cheriton (1644) are likely to have passed.   It separately commented on several planning applications for holiday lodges or similar accommodation on the unregistered battlefield of Fornham St Genevieve (1173), recommending pre-development archaeological work in advance of development where appropriate.  Comments were also provided for a planning application on a small site adjacent to Adwalton Moor (1643).
