Little is known of Henry. Born in 1421 in Staffordshire. As Esquire he was one rank below that of Knight. This was determined partly by his income and partly by his military experience. The son of Sir Hugh Wrottersley, Henry was allowed to bear arms and fight under his own banner in order to gain the experience in battle to become a Knight.

Henry fought on the Lancastrian side during the battle and was killed fighting in the field.
Henry’s elder brother Sir Walter Wrottersley was Captain of Calais appointed by the Earl of Warick following King Henry’s return. Following the Lancastrian defeat at Tewkesbury, he surrendered the City and Port to Edward IV in exchange for a free pardon.
