On this spot was fought the battle of Blore Heath 1459. Lord Audley who commanded the side of Lancaster was defeated and slain. This monument was restored by the Tyrley Parish Council to mark the 500th anniversary of the battle

The cross is on private land and is not accessible by the public it can be seen at distance in the winter from public footpaths south of the memorial at roughly 52.9080277663432, -2.427689592035404.
