Memorial Notes:

The Eleanor cross is significant for two main events. It is recorded as the location from which the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Pope's emissary viewed the battle of Northampton on the 10 July 1460. It is also the location for the execution by the earl of Warwick of William and Richard Herbert in July 1469 following the Battle of Edgcote.
