Sir Thomas was the second son of Sir John Seymour of Penhow. Thomas fought with his father at the battle of Tewkesbury (1471) and both were killed. The Abbey Chronicle records Thomas as buried in the Churchyard but does not note if his father was buried at the Abbey or his body returned to the family estates.

The Tewkesbury Founders Book records the burial of Sir Thomas Seymour as within the midst of the Abbey Churchyard. The book currently is kept in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford and the entries regarding the burial was made shortly after the battle of Tewkesbury (1471).
