Very little is known about Sir William except that he also fought on the Lancastrian side at the battle of Tewkesbury (1471). At some point during the battle, possibly at the Abbey afterwards, he was taken prisoner. The day following the battle he appeared before the Constable of England, Richard Duke of Gloucester and the Marshall of England, John Mowbray, duke of Norfolk. He was charged with Treason and found guilty. He was beheaded in the centre of the town. He was buried in the midst of the Churchyard

The Tewkesbury Founders Book records the burial of Sir William Rouse as within the midst of the Abbey Churchyard. The book currently is kept in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford and the entries regarding the burial was made shortly after the battle.
