Virtually nothing is known about this knight except he fought on the Lancastrian side at the battle of Tewkesbury (1471). Following the battle, the Abbey Chronicler records that he body was identified on the battlefield and taken to the Abbey for burial. We can only surmise that he was of some significance to have be recorded in the Abbey Records.

The Tewkesbury Founders Book records the burial of Sir John Urman as within the midst of the Abbey Churchyard. The book currently is kept in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford and the entries regarding the burial was made shortly after the battle.
