Little is known of Miles except he was a Squire and may have been hoping to be knighted after the battle of Tewkesbury (1471). He was captured during the fighting and in the days following, tried for treason. Found guilty, he was executed in the centre of the town. His body was placed in the Abbey Church for burial.

The Tewkesbury Founders Book records the burial of Miles Lewis Esquire as within the nave of the Abbey Church in “Diverse Places” The book currently is kept in the Ashmolean Museum Oxford and the entry regarding the burial was made shortly after the battle
