In late February 2023 a Battlefields Trust metal detecting survey team conducted an investigation of possible locations for the battlefield at Middleton Cheney. The survey found a single piece of lead shot of pistol size, but this could not be confirmed as being from the battle and may represent earlier or later hunting/sporting activity.  The survey confirmed that the battle had not been fought across the Astrop Road in the area of investigation, though it was inconclusive in other respects.  The full battlefield survey report is available for download on the left hand side of this page.
