We don't know the exact numbers of dead at Philiphaugh but is likely to be a few hundred.
The Selkirk court recorded nothing from August 9th to October 22nd 1645 and there is no mention of the battle. Maybe the town's people fled as the armies descended.

Wooden frames rotting, information board shrinking inside the frame. But the boards were reported as having maintenance in May 2024.
Memorial Notes:
Best to walk along the footpath from the cafe to read the sign. It would be dangerous to park on this winding fast road.
