Peter Newman (Royalist Officers in England and Wales, 1642-1660 (London: Garland Publishing Inc, 1981), p.53) identifies Byerley Colonel of foot, commissioned probably in December 1643 by Sir Thomas Glemham and fought in Durham against the Scots in 1644, withdrawing to York. He probably fought at Marston Moor in July 1644.
