ATTACKED THE PARLIAMENTARY DEFENCES BETWEEN ROYAL FOR AND BRANDON HILL.

WITH A SMALL FORCE HE EFFECTED
"WASHINGTON'S BREACH"
(AT THE PRESENT JUNCTION OF PARK ROW AND PARK STREET)
THROUGH WHICH ROYALIST TROOPS ENTERED
BRISTOL AND COMPELLED ITS CAPITULATION.

HE WAS THE GRANDSON OF LAWRENCE WASHINGTON
OF SULGRAVE AND A COLLATERAL ANCESTOR OF
GEORGE WASHINGTON (1732-1799)
