He died in the service of his Prince & Country
in the Defence of the City of Chester
Wherein he merited singular honour for his
Fidelity, Courage and Conduct.
He left by HESTER His Lady (Daughter and
heiress unto CHRISTOPHER WASE in the County
of Bucks Esqr) Four Sons and Two Daughters
His eldest Daughter JUDITH married unto Sr Ino
BUSBY of Addington in the County of Bucks, Kt
His youngest Daughter HESTER unto Sr
THOMAS GROBHAM HOW of Kempley in the
County of Glocefter, Kt
He died honourably but immaturely in the
Twenty ninth year of his age Octo. 9 1644.
His Lady Relict erected this Monument
of her everlasting Love and his neverdying
honour

The whole monument shows signs of excellent and recent restoration with repainting of the arms and regilding of all appropriate sections.

Newman Dictionary 937 (Peter Newman, Royalist Officers in England and Wales, 1642-1660 (New York & London: Garland Publishing Inc, 1981) albeit the name is misspelt as 'Manwaring' Mainwaring was Major to Sir Francis Gamul's Regiment
