Here lyeth expecting the second comeing of our blesed Lord & saviour Henry Kingsmill Esq second sonn to Sir Henrry Kingsmill of Sidmonton in the county of Southampton whoe serving as a captain of foot under his Ma[jes]tie Charles the First of blessed memory was at the Battell of Edgehill in the year of our Lord 1642 as he was manfully fighting in bahlaf of his King & Country unhappily slaine by a cannon bullet, in memory of whom his mother the Lady Bridgett Kingsmill did in the forty sith yeare of her widowhood in the yeare of our Lord 1670 erect this monument.
I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course henceforth is layd up for me a crowne of rightousness
