Near this place lye interred the Bodies of John Heron and of Jane his wife. The former of whom died on ye 8th December 1727 aged 63 and the latter on 14th November 1742 aged 78. He was the son of Robert Heron who died on the 16th May 1709, aged 68, and whose body is also interred near this place. They were both men of unblemished integrity. Robert was the son of Thomas Heron fifth son of John Heron Esq. of Bockenfield in the county of Northumberland, a younger branch of the ancient Barony of Heron in that county, whose sons and family were eminently loyal to King Charles the first, in whose service the above named Thomas was Major of the Regiment of Horse commanded by Colonel Robert Dalyson, and also Captain of a troop therein.
