TWO ROYAL VISITATIONS IN 1644
Oral tradition relates that on 28th June King Charles I
rode across the fields from Wardington and rested here
on a stile before joining his army which was moving
from Edgcote to Grimsbury.
The following day he won the Battle of Cropredy Bridge
and on 1st July passed here leading his victorious army
through the village en route to Deddington.
