One of a series of four busts, by George Frampton (1860-1928), of figures significant to St Giles' - the others are Milton, Defoe and Bunyan. Presented by the journalist and philanthropist Passmore Edwards (1823-1911) most probably to the Cripplegate Institute opened in 1896, and currently on loan to the church from the Cripplegate Foundation
