The Battle of Stanhope 1327

Wednesday 20th May 2020

On his first campaign the newly crowned Edward III faced a Scottish army led by Sir James Douglas.  Part of the first war of Scottish independence, the campaign culminated in the Battle of Stanhope, a raid that took place during the night of 3–4 August 1327.

Tony Fox will talk about this significant battle and the Battlefields Trust's plans to commemorate it.
