How to Capture A Castle
Thursday 9th April 2020
In light of government guidance on the COVID-19 virus this event has been postponed. A rearranged date will be notified when the situation improves.
Buried beneath the crumbling grey walls of Britain’s majestic castles lie some of the most colourful stories in history – tales of triumph and disaster, loyalty and betrayal, ingenuity and stupidity. In this illustrated talk Julian Humphrys takes an entertaining look at castles under siege, from the tunnels and trebuchets of the early middle ages to the mighty bombards of the renaissance.
Julian was born and went to school in Southampton. After reading history at Emmanuel College, Cambridge he worked for some years at London’s National Army Museum and is now Chair of the Trust Wessex Region. Julian is a regular contributor to BBC History Magazine and the author of numerous books and articles on British battles and castles.
This talk will now be broadcast at 7,00pm on the God's House Tower You Tube Channel. Pleasew click HERE
