Battle of Alton 1643

Sunday 24th and Monday 25th May 2020

English Civil War Society recreation of  the Battle of Alton which took place on 13th December 1643 when William Waller's Parliamentarian army surprised and overwhelmed a Royalist force quartered in the town. A living history encampment consisting of woodworkers, scribes, suttlers, haberdashers and many other tents will be based in St Lawrence Churchyard while a re-enactment of the fighting will take place, culminating in the Royalist surrender in the church

The event starts at 11.00am each day in the town and the finale for both days is at 4.00pm at St Lawrence Churchyard.
