Battle of Lewes 1264 re-enactment anniversary weekend
Saturday 16th - Sunday 17th May 2020
Plans are in place to commemorate the battle, fought on 14 May 1264 between King Henry III, supported by loyal barons, and Simon de Montfort, earl of Leicester, backed by other rebel barons. De Montfort won, leading eventually to the first democratic parliament.
Two full-days of re-enactments and events will be held in the town Convent field, next to the Priory which featured in the battle. Further details will be posted on the Trust website shortly.
