Rogues with Rifles - a talk about the 5/60th in the Peninsular War

Saturday 3rd August 2019

The 5/60th were the first rifle battalion in the British Army and they fought throughout the Peninsular War against the forces of Napoleon. Military history author Robert Griffith will tell the story of their service in that long campaign by discussing some of the extraordinary and distinctly roguish characters he discovered while researching his book Riflemen. You will hear tales of looting, murder and treachery, but also steadfastness, loyalty and heroism.

Venue: Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, (Royal Warwickshire)
St. John’s House, Warwick, CV34 4NF

Time: 2pm
