Armies and losses:  Jacobite: about 5,000 foot and 250 horse; twelve field pieces of artillery. Government: 7,000 foot, 800 horse; ten field pieces and 6 coehorn mortars. Losses: Government: 50 officers and men killed and 259 wounded. Jacobite killed 1,200-1,500, with 400-500 prisoners 

Location: The battle was fought on Drumossie Muir which is now reconstituted moorland and grazing land around 6.5 kilometres east of Inverness

The last pitched battle fought on British soil which ended the 1745 jacobite uprising.
