Siege of Camulodunum AD 61 and Colchester 1648

Two for the price of one! In Roman times Colchester (Camulodunum) was attacked and destroyed during Boudica's rebellion in AD 61. In 1648 Colchester was the site where a royalist army of 5,600 men was besieged by parliamentarians. We will look at the actions of both the attackers and the defenders of these actions and the sites remaining.
The walk will last approximately 2 hours and afterwards attendees may want to visit the museum in the castle which has exhibits from both periods (additional fee payable). Meet at 11.00 a.m. outside the castle. Stout footwear recommended.
