Battles of Powick 1642 and Worcester 1651

This combined walk begins at the Old Powick Bridge, going via Cut Throat Lane (aka Swinton Lane) to St John’s Church and then back via Pitmaston Park to finish at the Manor Farm Pub /Restaurant. This route combines the 1642 Battle of Powick Bridge with part of the 1651 Battle of Worcester and a mention at St John’s of the 1646 siege.

 

Parking at the Old Powick Bridge is extremely limited. About 5/10 mins walk away there is unrestricted parking in the Lower Wixk area e.g. Canada Way (WR2 4ED) or streets off it. Those taking refreshment after the walk at Manor Farm (postcode WR2 4BS) have permission to park there before the walk.

 

Start 10:00am at Old Powick Bridge, Old Road, Worcester (vicinity of WR2 4BU). Distance estimate 3.5 miles, time estimate 2.5 hours.
