Battle of Winceby 1643

Sunday 15th October 2017

Winceby is the battle where a relatively unknown Oliver Cromwell was nearly killed, but went on to make a name for himself.  Don Smith will again lead this year’s tour of the battlefield on Sunday 15th October 2017.  We will meet at Snipe Dales Country Park, postcode PE23 4JB at 1100. Snipe Dales is between Horncastle and Spilsby off the B1195. It is well signposted from the A158 and B1195. There is ample parking and toilet facilities before we start the walk.  Once everyone is assembled we will share cars to Snipe Dales Nature Reserve to begin the walk.  The walk will take around 90 minutes.  We will be walking on roads, tracks and across fields, so appropriate footwear and clothing is advised.  Free for Battlefields Trust members, £5 for non-members.
