Battle of Worcester 1651

This walk will concentrate mainly on the part of the battle on the east side of the river Severn and will take part in three stages

 

10:00am: Talk at the Ketch Viewpoint about the initial stages of the battle.  The viewpoint, where there is parking, is located by the Ketch roundabout at the Junction of the A38 and A4440.  The entrance to it is about 100 yards south of the roundabout on the A38 to Tewkesbury; turn right where it is signposted 'Viewpoint'.

 

11:00am: Battenhall and Red Hill walk starting from St Peter's Baptist Church, Eden Close, St Peter's Drive, Worcester, WR5 3TZ.  there is parking, cafe and toilets at the Church.  If the car park is full, the Church has permissiomn for the nearby Tesco's car park to be used.  Those who would like a light lunch at the cafe after the walk are asked to order before the walk commences.

 

2:30pm: Perry Wood walk starting at the Perry Wood end of Lark Hill Road.  Approaching Worcester along the A44 and immediately before the Wyldes Lane/Seabright Avenue traffic lights there is a narrow turnign on the right immediately after an Esso Service Station.  This is Lark Hill Road (WR5 2DG).  You should be able to park in the road.
