First Battle of Newbury 1643

Sunday 19th September 2021

Was first Newbury a battle the royalists should have won? Did the much maligned Earl of Essex get the tactics of his parliamentarian army right on the day?

To answer these questions and find out more about this vital battle join the Mercia Region of the Trust's walk of the battlefield, led by local historian Dave Stubbs.

Meet 2pm Sunday 19 September 2021 at the Falkland Memorial (RG14 6QW) at the junction of the A343 and Essex Street for a two hour circular walk.

Given ongoing Covid concerns numbers attending will be restricted to 30 people and all those wanting to attend should contact Simon Marsh below to confirm a place.  If government regulations change it may be necessary to amend or postpone this event.
